Dieu

Business & Entrepreneurship Mentee

Hi, my name is Dieudonne Yussufu, I am from the Democratic Republic of Congo I'm 20 years old and I have been in the united states for about 10 years now. After graduating from high school and going to college I have learned so many things, I started to get more and more interested in business because I got so tired of seeing my mom
dad going to 7 dollars an hour job just to take care of us. They would get home tired every day sometimes even sick, there were some days I went without seeing them for days. I would sit in my dorm
in college and start thinking that there is more to life than this, I just didn't want to be the normal 9 to 5 job every day. I want freedom of time, I want to be able to travel with my family without worrying
about going to work the next morning. I have always been a hard worker even when I played varsity basketball for George Washington I think I get it from my parents. I also speak a second language called Swahili, I live with my family and it is 10 of us in total, I want to be able to be a role model. Just recently my dad got sick and he was in and out the hospital and I did not know what to do. I was out of state for college and I have younger sisters so I was worried about how they were going to be able to eat and stuff because with just my mom providing there was no way she could do it by herself. Matters got worse so I had to come back from college early missing my finals because my mom needed help with rent and my little brothers and sisters and I just couldn't let her go through that struggle alone. I recently got a small job to help my mother while my dad gets treatments. But I refuse to fail and I refuse to just settle for this job. My parents deserve the world and I'm willing to do anything to give them the type of life they need and deserve, I'm blessed to be in the United States the Country of opportunity to try and make something out of myself. It really broke me when my mom called me while I was in college and asked if I had 60 dollars so she could have the rest for her rent. I did not have the money and just saying no to my mother and hearing the sorrow in her voice just broke me to tears. I don't want to ever feel that again. My mom has helped me all my life its time for me to step up and help her.

My goals and dreams are to really learn business and how to exceed in it and learn what it takes. I want to be able to do several things, One which is housing, I want to learn the business of housing and how it all works, I want to start something in the united states and then also expand into my own country. I then also wanted to do something with the transportation side of things and then take it back to my home country too because commercial transportation is needed in Africa and your business could really excel if you bring commercial transportation to a country like Congo or Tanzania. I also want to be able to mentor young people and teach them a different route and give them hope. I really want to have my foot in the water in a lot of things, But you always need a Mentor who has been through everything and has more knowledge than you to show you the way. I'm really excited to hear from you guys and thank you for taking the time to even read this! I am young and I am hungry and am willing to work hard! Again Thank you guys for your time!
