Send a message to this menteeI am an entrepreneur working on growing my various businesses while trying to improve my skills (and earn money to put into growing my personal businesses!) by getting a good job that leverages my skills, knowledge, and experience.
I was laid off recently, and am reevaluating my next career steps as well as finding it important to remedy some chronic problems I seem to have such as my employers bragging about how smart I am, what great ideas I have, how resourceful and clever I am... and then deciding to mostly ignore or fail to implement my recommendations, no matter how good the data or presentation is. The weird dichotomy of people wanting to make me a partner, give me the literal keys to their business, telling everyone I'm such a powerhouse of good things for their company, and then completely undervaluing me in practice is getting to me, and is professionally stifling.
I am a quick learner, becoming a subject matter expert in whatever I need to to get the job done the best way possible. My teams always thank me for being so knowledgeable and helpful, for making them feel so valued, and for being a bright spot of peace and positivity on their rough days. I love to understand businesses from top to bottom and apply forward-thinking and system-conscious solutions. A lot of the organizations I've worked with have been small, grassroots organizations, so I'm great with finding ways to cut costs and operate as efficiently and cheaply as possible. I have a lot of experience in training and with policy, procedure, and compliance too. In short, I feel like I have a solid skill set, a great and often-praised work ethic, and a drive to see whatever business or process I touch run its best. But somehow I'm still struggling to find my place professionally.

What I Expect From A Mentor:
I am much more concerned about mentor fit, than scheduling frequency and other matters. Good listening with the goal of understanding, thoughtful and actionable insights appropriate to my situation, and positive encouragement are all I expect from a mentor.
